Secret abortions facilitated and paid for by Centreville High School Personnel?
News of a counselor at Centreville High School taking two students for abortions without parental knowledge or consent has becomes a national story. The Governor of Virginia has ordered the State Police to open a criminal investigation into the incidents. FCPS Superintendent, Michelle Reid, put out a statement: “I am writing today to address the concerning allegations from 2021 that we learned about earlier this week and are being reported on the news. These reports claim that a staff member facilitated an abortion for a student in 2021. I want to stress that at no time, would the situation as described in these allegations be acceptable in Fairfax County Public Schools.” In 2023, during the School Board and General Assembly campaigns, the abortions were discussed among constituents, and they were an open secret. The Virginia Catholic Conference is encouraging parents and concerned citizens to voice their concerns to the FCPS School Board at their regular meeting Thursday, August 28.
FCPS Board disbands Community Involvement in review of Family Life Education (FLE) Curriculum
Since the beginning of FLE there has been a Citizen Advisory Committee to review curriculum as a concession to the community because of its sensitive content. On March 13, 2025 the FCPS Board voted to disband the citizen advisory committees and place it under the aegis of the Superintendent. At a FCPS Board Public Engagement Committee meeting February 11 (where no members of the community were present, but videotaping was occuring) the Board members were more candid about the intent: School Board Citizen Advisory Committees must be open to the public, but advisory groups to the Superintendent can bar citizen attendance. There has been too much pushback from parents in recent years as actions of FLECAC have come to light in the media.
FCPS’s Hill to Die On: Radical Gender Ideology in Bathrooms and Locker Rooms
The battle over allowing students of the opposite sex to use bathrooms and locker rooms in Fairfax County Schools has been going on for years with FCPS defying state and national laws and regulations. The most recent round began on July 25, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) concluded a five-month investigation into the transgender policies of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and found its policies violate Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 by failing to protect the safety and privacy rights of girls in intimate spaces, including locker rooms and restrooms. On August 15, Michelle Reid, Superintendent released a statement that FCPS would NOT comply with the USDOE, risking up to $160 million that will be pulled. “Let me be clear that FCPS remains dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment for all students and staff members, including our transgender and gender-expansive community. Any student who has a need or desire for increased privacy, regardless of the underlying reason, shall continue to be provided with reasonable accommodations.” In other words, “if there are girls who do not want to share a bathroom with boys all they have to do is come forward and ask and we will make reasonable accommodations.”
There is nothing reasonable about asking a self-conscious adolescent girl to ask for privacy that should be expected; particularly since FCPS policy provides for disciplinary actions against students and personnel who do not support and comply with the stated gender identity, referring to legal (baptismal) names as “dead names” if a student decides to socially change the name for gender identity purposes, and “misgendering” if a student or staff member refers to a “gender expansive” individual with a pronoun that does not conform with the student’s “gender expansive identity”.
Don’t worry, FCPS doesn’t need the $160 million in federal funds it is foregoing for this policy. The Fairfax Board of Supervisors will just raise taxes again — over a 150% increase in property taxes in 10 years! BTW, FCPS will be spending millions more of taxpayers’ funds to fight the Federal Government.
Against Parents’ Wishes, Eliminating Sex-separate Classes for Boys and Girls as young as 5th grade for sensitive topics of puberty and sexuality.
In response to a survey of parents (84% objected) and students who said they would “feel awkward, embarrassed, and uncomfortable in a mixed-gender class”, Superintendent, Michelle Reid said “Honestly, the majority doesn’t always dictate, right?” Watch the video yourself. Superintendent Reid has instituted “pilot” programs with children as guinea pigs in 10 schools including Centreville Elementary and Liberty Middle School in Clifton. Both schools feed into Centreville High School. If The program was instituted without public knowledge or discussion. All children were included in the “pilot” unless parents explicitly objected.
If your children are not in the schools with the “pilots” or if you opt out, beware that in 5th Grade, the children will decide if they want to go to the girl or boy class and the parent will not need to be alerted:

Beginning in Kindergarten children are taught “two parent familes” include “2 mothers or 2 fathers“
On June 17, 2023, Board Member Karl Frisch moved to amend the FLECAC (Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee) Report to change the definition of “two-parent family”, beginning in kindergarten to include “2 mothers” or “2 fathers”. The Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee did not make any such recommendation. The parents and community were not consulted. The Fairfax County School Board voted to approve Frisch’s amendment to redefine two-parents to include “2 mothers” or “2 fathers” and to educate children, beginning in kindergarten, with that “knowledge and attitude” as required by Social Emotional Learning.
Pornography in FCPS Libraries
At a school board meeting on September 23, 2021, a parent read from and held up pornographic material that was in the FCPS libraries. The school board responded in panic with Chair Stella Pekarsky ordering mother’s mic to be turned off, and reprimand in the mother for exposing children who might be watching to graphic, offensive material. The mother responded that she got the material out of a FCPS library. The Board quickly recessed to a back room where it hid for close to an hour.
The audience responded with the Prayer to St. Michael and School Board Member Karl Frisch (now Board Chair) tweeted: “It’s not every week the School Board receives two exorcisms during public comment. To be clear, nothing will disrupt our Board’s commitment to LGBTQIA+ students, families, and staff. Nothing. “

When Karl Frisch was sworn in for second term — this time as Board Chair, he put his right hand on pornographic challenged books.
Following a “review” of the pornographic materials by two committees appointed by FCPS Administration and the School Board, FCPS reinstated the books. The committees concluded that the books depicting LGBTQ+ sexual acts “aligns with FCPS Regulation 2603 supporting members of the gender-expansive community and affirming individuals in their identity.” No explanation is given how an adolescent’s “identity” is affirmed by viewing explicit pornographic depictions of sexual acts.
Regular rallies are held before school board meetings in support of pornagraphic materials with attendees from: FCPS Pride, Pride Liberation Project, 4 Public Education (a front group for the Teachers’ Unions), NAACP Fairfax and FCPS librarians.
LGBTQIA+ Only Group to Get Two Heritage Months!
The FCPS Board has designated June LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and October LGBTQIA+ History Month. No other group has been honored in this manner.
Heritage Months are periods within the year that are designated to celebrate and acknowledge various ethnic and marginalized groups …
Meaningful learning experiences that increase representation of all identity groups are integrated in all subject areas, and FCPS will provide guidance and resources to teachers for the following heritage months and observances acknowledged by the Fairfax County School Board. (emphasis added) FCPS Heritage Months, Celebrations and Traditions
But, at least FCPS provides a great education! Not so fast!

COVID messed kids up during the 2019-2020 and 2020-21 school years and maybe even into 2021-22 when Fairfax refused to return to in-school classes long after most other school districts. Catholic schools only closed down for the final months of 2019-20. But these declines occurred in the 2022-23 years. The most dramatic declines were in History. Why would that be? What was happening with History curricula? Remember FCPS does not teach a class called Critical Race Theory. It is a theory that transcends.
